Greta

neutering & spaying saves lives…

When you neuter or spay your pet animal, you are helping a homeless dog or cat in a shelter get a family of his own.

and how she inspired us.

It all started with greta…

Greta and her two male pups were surrendered to a Florida municipal shelter when her family lost their home. She was just 18 months old and had received little training. She was adopted, but later returned when found heartworm positive. Now, destined for euthanasia, she got lucky and was taken by a Rottweiler rescue group. She was started on heartworm medication and began training for resource guarding issues amongst others. We found her ‘up for adoption’ on the group’s website & we adopted her. We immediately got her the medical care she needed, and she eventually went from 74 pounds to 116! She proved easy to train, eager to please and highly intelligent. We replaced windows, built fences, replaced furnishings and loved her unconditionally as she became a devoted companion to my son and I. We later watched her endure an amputation when she developed cancer and recovered, only having the cancer return to take her life three years later at age 11 1/2. Through it all though, she inspired us with her absolute joy of being alive and being content to be at our side. She asked for nothing more then scratches, belly rubs, some meals and a warm place to sleep. In return, we received her utmost devotion and faithfulness.

It was Greta’s ‘wish’ that other homeless shelter dogs & cats get a second chance for a life they all deserve. A chance like she had…
